With a new director behind the helm of Jaws 2, the film still has the element of fear on a larger scale but still hidden in the unpredictable depths. They learnt from some of the first films mechanical mistakes and so used the shark a lot more on screen but it still felt justified. It was still explosive and added the fear. Even though Jaws was in open water, you still felt some security from the beach but you didn't get that in Jaws 2 and they were literally floating along waiting for each moment of attack. The first film, the shark led them to open water. They could, in theory have always turned back. In this film, they had no way of turning back if they'd been aware because the shark was coming at them like a juggernaut. I think it was brilliant follow up to the first film. <br />Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06953131738968503703noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7557502634138462766.post-3905209769392615992013-08-01T07:24:10.096-07:002013-08-01T07:24:10.096-07:00Thanks for the comment! Yeah, I could have done with a little less teen stuff, but my guess is that Universal wanted to aim for the teen market to ensure the sequel's profitability--essentially turning Jaws 2 into a 50s era drive-in style horror movie.Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15105692985678165114noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7557502634138462766.post-61678997593416750212013-07-31T05:22:01.031-07:002013-07-31T05:22:01.031-07:00Another great article Tim.

Too teen-centered for my liking I feel more of a focus on Brody and how he has/is recovering from the previous films exploits would've been a good way to go (similar to the book in some ways). That Guyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01765359837941231596noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7557502634138462766.post-9961529875911366052012-08-14T17:37:13.701-07:002012-08-14T17:37:13.701-07:00Thanks for the feedback, Ivan! There have been many Jaws knock-offs from around the world, but the only one that comes close to Jaws is Jaws 2.Timhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15105692985678165114noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7557502634138462766.post-29862657456921840812012-08-14T08:56:08.642-07:002012-08-14T08:56:08.642-07:00That's what i was telling to my friends for ye...That's what i was telling to my friends for years!... The best movie about a killer animal, eating and killing people that came out after JAWS is... JAWS 2. Besides, it was one of the most successful sequels of all times for many years; and well deserves it. It's even better if you make the adjustment. But is not all about money; Jaws 2 shows respect for the original material, and you can see that is a film made with love from the producers. We can mention "Alligator" or "Piranha" or another one you came with; but they are products far from an "A" Category. Considering as the sequel of one of the most greatest films ever made, Jaws 2 it's a gret film!
