From Shark City Ozark: The Limited Edition Jaws 2 Bruce Bust
When it comes to high quality Jaws collectibles, no one else does it like Shark City Ozark (SCO).
In a time where just about every popular franchise has licensed its name out various companies for the production of detailed collectibles, SCO rose to the occasion for the woefully underserved Jaws fan community by releasing a series of amazing mechanical shark replicas. Not only did these replicas meticulously capture the intricacies of the mechanical sharks used in the first movie, but SCO has also produced replicas of the sharks from the three sequels with the same amount of outstanding quality.
The latest line of SCO's Jaws collectibles is a series of limited edition 1:6 scale busts of the mechanical sharks. Its newest entry in is a reference to the electrifying ending of Jaws 2: the "Cable-Chomping Scarface Bruce" bust.
As the name suggests, this Jaws 2 bust includes an underwater power cable that can be put in its mouth to give it a sort of "action pose", or it can be displayed without the cable. Either way, the amount of detail SCO provides to the shark's scarred head is astonishing, as you can see in the pictures below. Of course, recreating the sequel shark isn't all that SCO does; it's willing to add extra gore (heavy or medium) to each order according to customer specifications. Gore on demand ... now THAT is customer service!
In an extra bit of fan service, the Jaws 2 bust provides a peek into the shark's
inner workings. This is a nod to a notorious goof in the sequel, when the shark's
head awkwardly bends and briefly exposes its mechanical insides.
The other two busts in this line--the "Yum-Yum Yellow Raft Bruce" and "Location Shoot Bruce"--are replicas of the sharks used in the first movie, and they also have had extra items included with them that provide nods to particular moments in Jaws. The reason why I've devoted a post to the Jaws 2 bust is largely a fan-based one: I've noticed that when it comes to franchise collectibles, most are devoted to the most popular entries within the franchise. Thus, while SCO's love of Jaws is very clear in the collectibles it makes, I'm glad to see that the same appreciation and craftsmanship applies to the sequels as well.
If you're a Jaws franchise "finatic" and haven't been to the SCO site yet, then what are you waiting for? You can order your Jaws 2 bust here, and you can check SCO's many other products here. These busts are limited edition, so order yours now. On the other hand, if you love the Jaws franchise but shark busts don't grab your interest, stay tuned--SCO has plans for more replicas in future, including all new 3-foot long replicas of the platform and tow sled sharks.
