Aliens vs. Lego

In space, no one can hear your scream when you step on a Lego brick.

It never ceases to amaze me when fans take it upon themselves to re-create items from their favorite franchises. Case in point: BaronSat (a.k.a. Eric Druon), who I have covered previously on this blog about his amazing Lego builds of Kenner Star Wars playsets, from both the regular action figure line and the Micro Collection series. This post covers the builds he has done for a different sci-fi franchise, Alien. So far, his builds cover three items from Aliens that are minifig-scale: the Armored Personnel Carrier (APC) vehiclethe Cheyenne Dropship, and an LV-426 Hadley's Hope playset.

The APC/Dropship combo itself pretty amazing. The APC features a removable roof, a sliding door, a rotating turret, and an interior that's close to screen accurate. The APC fits inside of the Dropship, which includes foldable wings, foldable missile racks, and an extendable personnel ramp. Instructions on how to build these kits can be purchased here and here. The APC requires 632 Lego parts, while the Dropship requires 2774 Lego parts.

Yet where BaronSat goes above any beyond the call of nerd duty is the Hadley's Hope playset. If there had been an action figure playset for Aliens that was on par with Kenner's classic Death Star playset, it would have looked like this:

The Hadley's Hope playset has plenty of exterior and interiors details that fans can recognize from the movie, from the terraforming colony where Ripley and the Colonial Marines barricaded themselves to the atmosphere processor station that housed the Xenomorph nest. BaronSat hasn't posted the instructions for this playset yet, so check the BaronSat site regularly for updates.

I honestly cannot tell you how much these sets cost to actually build, but they look like the perfect kits for Lego buffs who love the Alien franchise.

"Brick them from orbit. That's the only way to be sure."
